 | Use the Waterways World Almanac. Published every year and available from
good chandlers, it contains all sorts of useful information, including marinas
and BW moorings. |
 | Log on and check out the British Waterways leisure site
www.waterscape.com
This has a searchable database of moorings listed by waterway. |
 | Study the classified sections of the magazines. Some marinas
advertise, though they may expect you to buy your boat from them! |
 | Build up relationships with the marinas. Call in and make sure you
get onto their waiting lists. |
 | "Chicken and egg". Do you get your boat first and then search for a
marina, or perhaps secure a mooring and then but a boat? There is no
hard and fast rule on this one. |
 | Be prepared to settle for a less-than-ideal mooring just to get onto the
ladder. |
 | You will get what you pay for in terms of services etc. |
 | Use the Towpath Telegraph, i.e. talk to people and keep your ear to the
ground. |
 | Look out for new developments. There are plenty out there and often
the moorings are sold before the work has even started. |
